I used to be in Boy Scouts. It’s one of the only things I truly quit in my life. I was on the path to become an Eagle Scout, the highest honor earned. While I threw in the towel one merit badge and a project away from the gold, being a scout positioned me to be prepared. It was instilled into me to have the right tools for the job and to “be prepared” for anything

In life I think that is the same. It doesn’t matter if you are camping in the Appalachian Mountains, running an Ironman race or just getting ready for the dreaded Monday of the work week.

Be prepared. Look through your calendar, look at your maps, your schedule, think about the distractions that will inevitably arise, your laundry, gas in the tank, nutrition, do you have coffee. All of these things, and many more, are here to help (or hurt) you.

If you have an important meeting, research. If you are going to workout, have the right gear, electrolytes and food and clean clothes for after if you are going straight to work. Sure you can over review, but would you rather be prepared or to get hit with a big ole whammy instead?

It’s your job to be prepared for what’s next.

That was earth shattering knawledge.
